The core role of the Unit is to monitor and evaluate the impact of Government’s Poverty Alleviation Programmes (PAP) to increase its effectiveness which contributes to Government’s commitment towards reducing poverty and addressing socio-economic development needs of the people. This is to ensure that the Implementers of PAP develop, review and implement policies and processes to improve programme performance and gauge its impact on beneficiaries.

This aligns with the Unit’s key role to coordinate the implementation of national poverty reduction policies and programmes through the Integrated National Poverty Eradication Programme (INPEP) Framework.

Monitoring and evaluation of PAP is carried out in consultation with Government Ministries and Agencies, NGOs, Faith Based Organizations, Civil Society Organizations, Development Partners and Programme beneficiaries.

The Unit provides sound policy advice to Honorable Minister MWCPA.
